Just bought a cylinder repair kit ($110 from Case IH - OUCH)and tried to remove the cylinder ass"y nut to R&R parts. I could NOT budge the nut with my largest pipe wrench; thought about some heat to persuade. Decided to ask this august forum on 2 items: (1). what torque is req"d to re-install nut if and when I get it off and (2) where might I find a cylinder repair place (heard of one in Flint Mi nearby) that may provide repair parts cheaper than a dealer. Thanks in advance for info

when i've repaired my 2250 cylinders, i use the regular handle with my 3/4" socket set. no cheater bar. i had some pitting on the rods which kept eating the seals and letting oil drip. as such, i didn't need the whole repair kit. i found the end seals for a couple dollars at a place that installs and repairs garbage packer trucks. eventually, i had new rods made at a different machine shop. fortunately, i had them make a pair, as they were a little longer than the originals. hth, bill

Hi Look for a hydrolic repair shop in area even better if they have a machine shop in side . are local hyd shop has a machine shop and he fixed my IH cylenders by making a part on a lathe and new style seals. This a small town but most of the farmers know about him for repaires to there combine pumps and such. JON
