How can I degrease a block and engine head without taking it to a machine shop. I do not have facilities to cook them, and I would like to keep the block on the tractor for now, so i can move it, we're building a new shop.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, Try using some Dawn Power Dissolver, Spray it on and then let it soak for awhile. Then power wash with hot water. Hal

you might try some citrus degreaser, can buy from industrial/janatorial suppliers, more expensive than others mentioned, but will melt road asphalt in minutes as well as grease, oil and some paint.

Ok Yes you can buy oven cleaner at dollar general,I tryed it but I did not think it worked great. How about renting a pressure washer.Hot water is a must not super hot just hot tap will work.Do you have them off? Take them to the car wash. You can buy engine degreaser at wally Mart for .88 cents a can.How about building a fire under a tub of water? Just a few thoughts JON

Oven cleaner makes an excellent de-greaser.

I agree. Oven cleaner works for me. I spray the tractor or desired area and let it set for a day and then wash it with a high pressure washer. I just done this to my third tractor and it has worked everytime. I spray the whole tractor and that takes care of any grease and also removes some paint.

You need a whole colection of wire brushes
then finish cleaning with a scruffy pad and
paint thinner.
