Hey! Help once more?

Bob Bennet was good enough to send me pictures of his Char-Lynn setup.

From the pictures, it appears to me that the lines going to the steering motor are 3/8" hydraulic lines, and I do not trust my old eye-sight anymore.

You guys think this is the appropriate size to run up to that steering motor? I'd like to keep 'em small and neat if at all possible. If this is enough volume to run the motor????

Thanks once again,

Allan

Allen.
My SMTA has the 3/8" hoses for the steering from the priority valve, been that way since new, I think the small lines will be fine and easier to run under the hood also. 1/2 or 3/4 hoses would be a bear, even with swivels.

Van, do you know if the priority valve reduces pressure to the steering? I am putting a Charlynn unit on my MD which has live hydraulics and would like to use them rather than a separate power steering pump. Thanks Geoff NY

Yes,
It ensures the steering has pressure before other systems, It is a open loop system and the unused pressure is sent back to the reservior as flow. I do believe if I can remember there is a relief valve on the unit to limit pressure to the steering.

Van,

You should run for political office, 'cause you're talkin' what I wanna hear!

If you are ever on your way up to Mt. Rushmore, stop in and I'll feed you a hefty helping of some of our Nebraska beef.

..... ..... 'Course it'll have to be during our slow season, which is January 10th thru the 15th. :>)

Thanks,

Allan

Oh Allen,
Better watch out, I have friends by Rushmore. I get out there about every two years to do my part reducing the prairie dog population. Beef "is" whats for dinner.

Yea I saw that, but I had to give Allen the benefit of the doubt that he has meat and taters hidden in the shop freezer.

Boy! I'll tell ya,

If you come up with a cure for that little problem, you is gonna be a very wealthy man.

What a pain in the southern exposure! Little varmits spread like wildfire and nothin' seems to slow 'em down.

Just yesterday I was reading an article in a 1939 American Rifleman by the ole' master Elmer Keith about long range pistols. He stated that he could stay on target at 700 YARDS with a 2" barrelled .45 Colt Single Action. 700 YARDS!...good grief, I'd have to drive my tractor out to check the target. Gather a few of those old deadeyes together, and prairre dogs wouldn't be a problem!
