Wow! I haven't been here in a week or so and reading the replies about H owners; I never expected to see so many 1940 H's still running.
I have a 40 H # 11786 which my Best friends Grandpa bought new. My friends Dad had it for years until he passed away a couple years ago, I just couldn't stand to see it rot out behing the barn so I bought it for $100 from his mom.

Anybody know what a good price is for a front loader for an H?

Here is a pic of my 52 H. I have about $800.00 in to this loader with cyl rebuild,sandblasting,mounting and painting. Would not be with out it.

I tried to get rid of this loader 2 or 3 years ago. I couldn't give it away. I finally did some much needed work to the trip mechanism and got it to working good, now I won't be without it. I don't have any pics. of it mounted on the tractor, but it's on there now.

Hi Pat,

I'll probably get a lot of flack over this one. :>(

There are loaders and then there are loaders; expect to pay $800 and up for a good one plus you'll have to pay extra for the heads. Most dealers will be asking around fifteen hundred for a decent loader and one head.

Sometimes, you can find 'em on farm sales for less, however.

Some one a few post back had one.. I think title "worth the trouble?" Page two now. I think he was from NY. Price really depends on type and condition. I had a crappy one on my old H that wasn't worth the steel it was made of. Allen NE has a beautiful one that really is worth probably as much as his tractor. Check out his pictures. on Tractor Talk forum under cause and consequence ( I think that is right).

Yep, you are correct. I gave $1850 for the tractor and $1800 for the loader with 2 heads.

'Course if you go pricing a new one, then my old dinger sounds pretty good. Darned things are up there around $4K now. Just for a silly loader with only 2 hydraulic controls! Geeze!

And, so it goes. :>)

There will be people that say that sounds high for an H but I figured out a long time ago the stuff that really works and you NEED to really work isn't on the bottom end of the trading posts. I wish I knew how to post a picture of my W4. I really like H's but no longer have one. I have my favorites of every thing. In tractors the best for the buck I think is an H. Bill

Bill,

I wannna seeeee!

Go over to the left hand side of this page and go into "Galleries", click on "Tractor Photos". There is a link in there to "add your photo".

Click on the link and the menu will walk you thru lifting the picture from your computer up to the YT site.

After you have lifted it up, open the picture in the "Tractor Photos" section and RIGHT click on the picture itself. Then, left click on 'properties'. A box will come up with all the info on the picture.

Copy all of that picture's "address" starting with the "http" and ending with the "jpg", then in your message, paste this 'address' into the "Optional Image URL" box at the bottom. It will show up in your message, I promise. :>)

She is a 1941 J5 Piper Cub. I am restoring a J3 too. I have more irons than I do fire. THis plane in the picture is my "low and slow leave the worries behind" machine. If yo are infact in the pan handle It would only take me 9 or ten days to get there in her. May be less depending on the winds :-)

What would you guys think of me if I passed up an opportunity and didn't unabashedly show off my old tractor for about the 300 or 400th time? Gee!

Hmmmm, I see I have a grapple hose a hangin' down in front.

One thing Pat, when you use a loader on an H, these tractors have a very nasty habit of breaking in two right at the hydraulic housing. So, a fellea has to run truss rods across the underbelly of the tractor to keep this from happening.

Ya notice I havn't done that yet? That's probably why I baby 'er. :>)

Thanks for the info For as much as I need it for an ole trip bucket loader would be fine Think.

I just asked because I saw an ad in the classifieds for an H and a Front loader listed after it for $250 and wondered if it was a good deal.

Not even 100% sure I want to get one.
