Just out of curiosity is there any special type of override clutch I should get for my Super C? What have you guys had the best luck with? and how much should I figure on spending and where can I pick one up. I was thinking about stopping at Tractor Supply and grabbing one. Will that be sufficient? Sorry for all the questions but the freshly rebuilt Super C is going to get a little action tonight.

Josh

I use on on my Ford, and it has a roll pin that you drive through the PTO shaft after you remove the grease fittings. Which means you can't take it off. I have seen a type that has a push button, just like a PTO shaft has to make removal easy. I plan to get that kind when this one wears out.

Take Care
Steve

Of course you can take it off, you just get a little greasy. I put one on every fall to brush hog and take it off every spring to mow hay.

I would steer away from the quick disconnect styles, as they are a little longer and will wiggle a little more. I find that the driveline works better the shorter and tighter you can keep it.

I can sell you one of those. I offer both sizes. The cost is $48.50 plus shipping. (It's also called an over-running coupler.) But, suppose that won't help you if you need it today.

Thanks for the offer Jen but I was planning on getting one today. I just didn't know if there were certain brands I should steer away from. Thanks though.

Just bought one at TSC last week. It was about $50. They had 2 different sizes, one for 1-3/8" PTO and one for 1-1/8" PTO. Well worth the investment if you are using a brush cutter.

OverRUNNING clutch, perhaps? Mowing is about the only reason I can think of for an overrunning clutch. Instead of the mower's momentum driving the rear end of the tractor when you push the clutch, the mower spins free and the tractor stops.

I don't think you've got too many different ones to pick from; it's a limited market. Expect to pay what the price tag indicates, especially if you want one NOW.
