I have a few air intake breathers from Farmall m's. Two of them have Ball jars on them, but I have heard that is not the original. Which was original Ball, Kerr, or both?

The true originals were in fact Ball special square shouldered widemouth jars, which also came with a gasket for between the glass shoulder and the seat on the precleaner. I never seen one with a gasket before, until I ran across a NOS still in box from an old dealership. It had the gasket on it, and after looking at it, can see why there is not many left. If you ever need any precleaners, 1-3/4, 2, 2-1/4, 2-1/2, original jars or gaskets, let me know. Have a good one, Shane

yep, thats the rarest part of them, at least for original gaskets. Usually they cracked up over time, or were disgarded by the owner. Have fun, Shane

They siphon off some of the dust so that it doesn't have to go to the air cleaner.

The correct jar is the BALL SPECIAL. The Kerr will work, but is not original. Any wide mouth jar will work. Lots of those Kerr jars for sale on e bay, description says the Kerr is original, but it is not, and those jars should never bring over 5 to 10 bucks.

Supposedly they were unmarked jars. We never use mayonaise jars because they are light and easily broken by brush.

My grandfather's tractor has a Ball jar on it.
