I heard from a teacher friend of mine that there is a Farmall Super B. Now, I'm not sure to believe him, because he's the type that argues with himself while he teaches, but is there such thing? If so, are they rare? I'd assume they are just like the A and B, same engine/transmission?

The last "B" was built in 1947. The C-123 engine wasn't born until 1951. So you figure it out.

I know of a Super BN. It was purchased from the original owner who simply stored it in a shed. As a very, very old gentleman (who's identity remains a mystery as well), he told the current owner he would sell him the tractor only if he vowed to never reveal the secret of the tractor. Now, he owns the tractor and of course drives everyone insane because of its "secret." Rumors have it that it was a prototype the mystery first owner had the opportunity to test or try out and when IH called all the prototype Super B's back to be disassembled this one was kept back. Interesting, and I hope I do not go to the grave without finding the story!!!

I have seen several Super B and Super BN's. These are home made. Engine from Super A or C/Super C will bolt right up.
Oh, and for Novel Idea Guy, we have quite a few B's and BN's here in west Michigan as we are a vegetable growing area and they are very usefull. Dave.

No doubt B's have their fans. I'm just not one of them is all.

If you think about it, is a C really any less handy than a B? Cultivision was really only meant for working with one row at a time.

Dear Novel,

I’m sorry you don’t like the B. Last night I was rearranging my machine shed backing in lots of different stuff (grinder, trailers, etc) into tight quarters. I have both a B and a C (and M, 560, and 966). I chose the B hands down, without thinking, and no second thoughts. The seat off to the side lets me see down that side without a helper, and the B will turn on a dime and give back 9 cents in change! Easier to get on and off than the C too. Plus, the B has a lower center of gravity for mowing ditches etc. Granted the vision on the left side isn’t the greatest, but not that bad when you are over 6 ft tall like I am.

Unless your buddy is talking about the one and only experimental super B produced, there was no such tractor available to the public.

I suppose someone could have made there own with some work.

The Super C filled the void that a Super B would have filled.

NOW..if you could find a Super B Diesel with a TA then you would have a tractor! LOL!

The B was discontinued in 1947, and was replaced by the C in 1948. There were never any Super Bs produced. Perhaps there was a prototype, but then there would be only one in existence.

I never saw much point in the B. It was just an A with a long axle on the left hand side, and a narrow front end. Visibility on the right was excellent, but you couldn't see what was going on on the left.

IH made a prototype Super B (evidence indicates there was only one). The idea was dropped as the C was developed. It is believed that the tractor was scrapped after it was tried out. There was never a production model.

If you can find a Super B it will be a home made affair. I wish my B were Super. IHC never made one. Others will know more than me but I think the "supers" weren't introduced until after they stop production on the B.
