Hydraulic check valve on IH 460

I'm not aware of a factory installed check valve servicing the lift cylinder. How would the cylinder be lowered or raised if a check valve allows oil to flow in one direction?

I suppose a Hydra-Touch valve would work for the Fast-Hitch cylinder. The drawback would be that the Hydra-Touch valve needs to be manually returned to center once the hitch height is selected. Can you hit the exact desired hitch height every time when plowing for instance? I think not.

IF the unlatching valve is not working in the Hydra-Touch valve servicing the hitch cylinder, then it will not flop the Hydra-Touch valve to neutral (center) when the system hi-pressures at the maximum or minimum travel of the lift cylinder.

Beyond this, there are a number of things that can keep the system in a hi-pressure condition, but I only understand the causes of this on a tractor that is equipped the way it's supposed to be.

It's late, been to my high-school's stag party and have consumed some adult beverages. My thinking says there's no way the lift cylinder would work if there is a check valve present in a ine going to the lift cylinder.

Need more information.

I don't know its purpose other than being a load holding/safety valve instead of this task being handled by the lift cylinder's control valve. If so, then it would likely be pilot operated very much like a backhoe outrigger valve--it has to be pressurized for it to operate.

Might as well bypass the check valve and remove it from the circuit. Give it a shot.
