My 12 volt system i am considering converting to electronic igntion, but the 2 kits are different. One is for a positive ground system and the other is for a negative ground one. How do i tell which system i have? Sorry if this is a dumb question. If i get this, how hard are they to install? thanks!

If you dont know which ground system you have and have to ask questions you better get someone experienced to put the different ignition system in.

In less harsh words, you might want to spend a signifigant amount of time and effort learning about your tractor before you go and start changing things. The type of ground is pretty basic information, and the fact that you don't know what it means or how to tell which kind you have tells me/us that you know very little about electrical systems in general. Going in stone-cold blind, you're likely to make a real mess of the tractor.

You should have a good reason for installing an electronic ignition. If the tractor is running well, and starts reasonably well, you don't need an electronic ignition.

Which terminal of your battery is connected to the frame of the tractor? + = Pos.grnd
- = neg grnd.

vern, it is the negative one, thanks for the information. Novel idea guy, thanks for nothing, i didn't know which one to buy for the guy i have fixing my tractor. the barn i have the tractor in is very dusty and the points tend to get dirty pretty quickly. i come to this board for information and advice from nice folks, not smarmy criticism from know-it-alls...
