Really appreciate the information given on this board. My 140 is six volt and was mfg. in 1959. It is missing the right side, end piece and top cover pieces of the battery box. It looks like I have two choices: a. Buy the missing components from Case-IH for a small fortune or b. buy an aftermarket two piece (top cover and unitary battery box. Anybody have any experience/
comments regarding replacing original type battery box parts versus going to a unitary battery box?

The originals are 14 gage. Not sure what OEM uses. I replaced the missing ones on mine with parts made from 16 gage, the heaviest I could shear. Helps to have access to a Bridgeport type milling machine and a mig welder. Mine look original.

Bill: Brian is right, OEM have them. Have seen them other places. They will be pricy as he suggests. Local fabricators can make the side panels quite easily. I don't think CaseIH will have them, unless you strike a parts man dealing in a few after market items.

You can buy the individual pieces form OEM tractor parts. Don"t know if you can get these from Case-IH anyway. Won"t be cheap. Battery boxes seem pretty popular and they bring a pretty penny every time every place. Not much metal there, but I guess some time to make. If you cannot make it in your garage or basement, then it is pretty cheap compared to tooling up to build them.
