Bob, I need some help locating a part. I have a Farmall A and the Field Circuit Resistance part is broken in half. Would you have any idea where I could obtain a replacement or something that would provide the appropreiate resistance?

Many thanks for your help, I'm nearly done with the re-wiring and am coming up on this issue.

Thanks again.

Bob – Any common resistor with the proper resistance value will work. If memory serves the correct value is 3.2 ohms - though I am not certain. However actual resistance is not critical anything 2 to 6 ohm range should work. The resistor should be rated for at least 5 watts.

However unless you are a stickler for originality I’d replace the cutout relay with a voltage regulator. A regulator provides much better charge control and will extend battery life by not under- or over-charging the battery. It’ll be $35 well spent!!

Thanks for the help Bob. I long ago stopped worrying about the cost, I'm in so deep, who cares. Where would a regulator be positioned and what does it look like?

Bob - I just wandered over to look at my next door neighbor's Super A. It has it's regulator mounted on a bracket directly below the generator which I believe is "correct" for the Super A. But I've seen many A's with the regulator attached directly on the generator (appears like the regulator mounting base is curved to match the OD the generator frame).

Physically regulator is a rectangular metal box, maybe 2-1/2" square and about 2" deep, or about double the size of a cutout relay box.

Man I must have been asleep when I asked the question. I have a new regulator on a newly rebuilt generator.

Now I guess I need the wiring diagram. I know you posted a number of them a sometime back. Can you steer me in the right direction?

Thanks for your help, I feel dumb. Bob
