Hi Guys,

Not my day to attend an auction I guess.

The 30 year old truck I was wanting went for $9700, which was right at $3K above the limit I had set for myself. A second old truck that was 44 years old with a 13' wood combination box & hoist sold for $2700 and the only 'red' item there, a little cub with a belly mower went for$2650. Buyers from 8 states. Darned green stuff drags 'em in every time! :>(

Gotta go down and see the cowman, he knows how to work these sales. :>)

Allan

I've found that auction sales held in incliment weather tend to have fewer deals. Seems everyone has the idea that its to nasty for a big crowd so they go and you end up with a well attended auction. Pick a sale on a nice day and everyone thinks there will be no deals and fewer people show up. Always seems to work out that way for me.

Allan,
Just what is it that you are a lookin" for? If you don"t mind drivin" to Illinois, there are trucks to be had around here real cheap at times. I could keep an eye out if you have something perticular in mind. Know where there is a little binder with a 12-14ft? (not sure) bed on it. If that is what you are lookin for, I will check with them guy that has itand see if he still wants shed of it.

I'm a rather old dude, but still every time something is knocked off to me at an auction there is that mental flash that says "you dummy, you just paid more for this item than anyone in the crowd thought it was worth"

Well, if you hadn't gone, you would have heard of it selling for half that!
Hope you bought something to make the day worthwhile. I looked at the sale bill, and thought that 13' Graham-Hoeme Chisel would look good behind a 966.☺☺☺
Better Luck next time...

Hey, since you mentioned that plow, I have a question. I've got one of those, same brand, an 8'. Also have an M. Will the tractor pull it, or is that too much plow for an M? Thanks for the info. Y'all have a good'n.

Good question...and I'm not the person to be asking. I do remember a fellow pulling a 8 footer with a WD9 without any problem. I'm just guessing that it would be almost too much to expect from an "M". But, I'm usually wrong, so let's hope someone with experience will answer.

In SE South Dakota the rule of thumb is 10 Hp for each point, however I did pull 13 points behind my 966 in L3, but it was really too much for it, 11 would have been better.

Hope this helps.

Allan, when an item you want at an auction goes higher than it should, well, I just figure that there is the proof that there definately are people in this world who are dumber than me. Kinda refreshing sometimes.

When an item at an auction goes higher than I will pay I'm usually just relieved I'm not the only idiot that wants one.

Allan

Aint you ever satisfied? I suppose an M would pull an 8"chisel plow. If you didnt go too deep.
I could pull an anhydrous aplicator(5 knives) with a Super M. 1st. gear,mabe 2nd. steveormary
