I just recieved my new field coils to convert My H's generator from 6 volt to 12 volt. I have a question . The original Generator at 6v was 25 amps .Will converting to 12 volt lower the amperage charge rate ? If it does will it really matter that much ? has anyone had a problem when doing this? I noticed this generator doesn't have an adjustible 3rd brush like my W6's did.

Thanks Ed

Bob could probably answer this better than I can, but here are a couple thoughts. First, with twice the voltage and the same current, your generator would be putting out twice the power. It might be a good thing if it did not put out as much current as it did when it was 6 volts. Another item is that when you are using 12 volts, your battery only needs to deliver half the current to get the same work done. Your battery should not need as much to keep the charge up.

To be honest, unless you do lots of starting and short time running, 10 amps should be plenty to keep your battery charged.
