Second question. There is no type of seal of any kind on the Control Shaft as it goes through the casting of the High-Lift pump on the top corner of the pump casting. Was considering putting a rubber O-ring on this shaft on the inside of the pump next to the control shaft lever. Between the lever and the casketing to help prevent oil slowly working out of shaft opening. Has anyone out there come up with a better method to seal this up. Realize I'm getting anal on this whole "oil leaking" thing but at this point, I haven't cut any corner yet when restoring this ole girl and want to do this part right as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

The liftall on my '47 H had a rubber seal in the casting for the control shaft. You have to take the pump out of the housing and loosen the clamp screw on the actuator bellcrank to remove the shaft. The counterbore for the seal will be evident when you remove the shaft. If CIH doesn't have the part, a bearing retailer can sell you a seal that will press into the housing. You have to give them the counterbore ID, shaft OD, and the depth of the counterbore.
