Has anyone built a set of front end tie rod tubes? Thinking of making a set for a 200. Happy Holidays.

Hi Joe,

Yep...I had to fabricate a set for my C. I got the appropriate tie rod ends from Napa, then I took them and the old tie rod to my machine shop guy. He got the tubing stock, bored and threaded the holes. He also milled flat spots in the middle of the rods for a wrench to turn them when adjusting for alignment. I think he charged me something around $100 for the stock and labor...the rod ends were surprisingly spendy...I think I had to dish out about $45 a pair.

I can send you pics if you like. Just drop me a note.

Steelwheel ranch has new wide front end parts for C and 200"s. bolt type is almost the same as used on 100 and 130, may be longer. I have 200 parts numbers.

Hi Joe, I've never made a set of tie rods, but
it shouldn't be too difficult since you have old
ones and can measure the length of each rod.

The hardest problem is finding the same size tubing and threading it. You will need to determine what the thread is that's being used and buy a die and thread your new tubing. I'm not sure if left hand threads were used, you can tell that when you remove the tie rod ends. Hal
