I pulled my M in the shop, the next day I noticed a puddle under the pto unit area. Seems like all I need to do is put in a new gasket. What should I expect when I pull the pto cover plate off? Will I flood the shop floor?

You will lose a considerable amount of oil. My thoughts are if the oil is clean and servicable then drain it from the rearend into a clean 1/2 oil drum and puter back in when finished. I may be all wet but I think my SH holds like 13 gallons. Herb

I think it's time to change your handle. A bad mechanic wouldn't even notice the leak or he would disreguard it if he did!

Yea, maybe I should change my handle. The truth is I don't know much about mechanican, but I keep trying. I usually dive into something, trying to figure it out as I go. Seems to be the way to learn. I just like to eliminate those major oil spills when I can. Thnaks for all in the input. I'll be back for more.
