Found a Super M today for sale, Serial number was F 3471 G J. What do the letters mean? Also it had a wide front with the tie rods out front, is that the older styled IH widefront? It is a cotton high drum cotton picker tractor so I know it was added later on.

Also had a set of F and H rear wheel weights, never seen them before, are they rare?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

BTW I can buy it for $150, is it worth it?

F & H I believe was French and Hecht, a company that made weights and wheels for tractors. Have seen lots of "em. Not rare

Something about that serial number doesn't ring true, are you sure it is a super M? In any event, the tractor is well worth $150, just for the parts, if nothing else. F and H rear weights might be from an F-20? not sure of that.

What about the serial number "doesn't ring true?" Looks like a perfectly valid 1952 model to me.

Wheel weights not to rare,do they have #161 on
them? If tractors easy to load it will bring more than 150 at steel yard here.

You answered your own question. The G means high drum cotton picker, the J means Rockford clutch, just a brand of clutch. Tie rods in front means the older style. Never heard of the wheel weights. $150?? Does it run? Do you want it to, or are you wanting it for parts? To make it useable will cost a LOT of money, assuming the price is indicative of the condition.

It is still on gas, tractor is in fair shape, complete with below average tin. F and H wheel weights are rare in the Mississippi Delta area.

It is for sure a Super M, I would know the difference, disk brakes, 264 stamped on the engine, I have been around the block and can tell the difference.

Highcrop, will try to get pictures, most likely will keep it since it is a cotton picker model.
