I recently acquired a good running IH power unit. It has a IH tag that says it was made in Canada and is a model H. The guy I got it from says it will fit a Model A,B or C tractor even though it is a model H. My questions are what size is this motor, wahat was it used for and what is it worth? I posted the picture in "Pieces and Parts" Thanks Roger

Years ago a local guy that had a sawmill had what he said was a H power unit on a planer, was bigger than a C tractor engine

If it is a combine power unit, the crank won't be bored to take the pilot shaft from the tractor transmision. I ran into that this fall.

Roger,
I'm pretty sure that is a C135 power unit off of a 201 windrower. The placement of the control panel and the drive off the end of the motor makes me think that.Look at the engine serial number (above the distributor on a raised boss on the block) and I think you'll find it starts with C135. If that is what you have it's not a simple bolt in to put it in and a,b,c etc.

I looked all over the unit for the ID that had a "U". Here is the photo of the ID tag I found. Is the ID tag different because it was made in Canada?

Take a closer look at the tag. A U-2 may have said something like "64 HT" if it was originally on a combine (as it appears).

I agree - it looks like a U2 but set up to operate a small combine (on account of the radiator "snoot" and the variable pitch sheave on the PTO shaft).

Punch below for a shot of a U2 power unit with an overcenter clutch and pulley for belt work

Looks like a U-2. It will bolt up to an Aor B. But dont try and use the starter as it runs reverse direction from what you will need on a tractor. The BENDIX is even left-hand rotation. You can change the poles of the fields to reverse rotation but will need to change the BENDIX. Check the crankshaft to see if it is bored for a pilot bearing. Yours looks like it could be. Those engines without a clutch usually werent bored for a pilot bearing.

Really hard to tell from your photo. But from the side view that you posted it would appear that it is indeed probably a C-113 engine and that is the engine used in A, B, & C Farmall Tractors.

As far as being a model "H" that I am not sure about. It is my understanding that power units were all "U" 1,2,3,&4 models.

This one looks like it may have been mounted on a 163 SP windrower, we used to have one. The motor lasted forever with plenty of power, even in hilly land, for the windrower.
