Huston: All I use is a bottle jack along with a pallet jack. I keep a number of good hardwood pallets, some 2, 4 and 6 inch blocking and ratchet tie down straps. In splitting my 130 at the clutch housing, here is my proceedure; Put wedges in oscillation point of front axle, choke rear wheels, place a pallet under front end of tractor. Block in from pallet to each side under axle and to oil pan just ahead of clutch housing. I build a cradle so sides of block take weight and not oil pan. I then use shim material so when I jack pallet all 3 stacks of blocks make contact at same time. raise pallet jack so blocking is tight. Apply ratchet straps from tractor to pallet at 3 points. Now the front of tractor and pallet are one piece. Just place the bottle jack under clutch housing to take weight. You are ready to unbolt and separate tractor. The beauty of this you can wheel the entire front end out of your way and use pallet jack for another move. I have split tractors as large as 560 with this. If you have enough pallets, blocking and tie down straps you can dismantle your entire tractor component by component. I have removed 20.8 x 38 tires and wheels, full of calcium chloride, in a standing position, using pallet, blocking and 4 tie down straps. I wouldn't be afraid to split a 150 hp tractor using this. As you know I have quite a few implements for my offset tractors. For winter storage I just set them on pallets, using the jack I can manuver them places I could think of with tractor. My advice is buy the pallet jack then the tractor. Wouldn't be without that pallet jack.
