Westendorf Loader Cylinders

Still having trouble with the WL30 (on a 656 - the lift arms work backwards but switching the hoses will cause the arms to lift but not fall)

- I spoke with a getlemem in the local farm store today - he told me that there are high and low pressure cyinders that came stock on Westendorfs.

Knowing the loader came straight off a JD4010 - what are the chances my problem may be caused by incorrect cylinders?

Thanks,
Eric

Hi, I've questions; 1. does the bucket work correctly? if the bucket works OK and your hoses are long enough to permit. Try switching the 2 pair of hoses and see where the problem is now. If arms still don't work correct it may be a mismatched hydr. coupler.

2. have you double checked the routing of lines and hoses connecting both pairs of cylinders to the remotes to make sure they're paired correctly? Bucket tilts both on one side and arm lifts both on the other side??

I've seen it a couple times where the 4 hoses aren't paired correctly and you get the symptoms you have. Good luck.

Eric the cylinders high or low pressure will not cause the priblem you have. If you have high pressure cylinders you may not left as much as you should but if the cylinders are in good condision they will work. As I said before there is no single or double to change the float does that no matter how you hock up the hose. I still think you have a bad coupler or a mix match. I know this might be hard to believe, but it is true. If the dump works ok can you switch hoses from side to side to see how that works. Taking off the couplers would be ok but the fittings on the tractor are o ring and you can't use pipe fittings.

I have a Westendorf WL-42 on a 966. The man is correct that they offered two different cylinders and since it came off a JD tractor, it is probably equipped with the high pressure ones. It seems to me that when I ordered mine, the only difference was the diameter of the piston in the cylinder, in which case I doubt that the cylinders are your problem, especially since I remember them not going up, but would go down before (could be wrong here).

I would try removing all couplers (tractor too) and plumb the loader directly using pipe fittings and see if that takes care of the problem and go from there.

Please post back with results.
