Hello,
My brother-inlaw is willing to give me a IH 3300 series B skid steer that he is not using anymore. Can anyone tell me what this machine will weigh? I will have to haul it about 400 miles and need to know if I can haul it that far with the truck and trailer I have.
Thanks for any help,
andy

I'm not familiar with that model number, but I know the bobcat 743 (5' wide bucket) weighs in around 3.5 -4 tons. What's the trailer rated at that you have? If it's the common tandem axle, 3500lb/axle that a lot of folks have, forget it (unless maybe it's a real small machine, but, i doubt it)

Beyond that, I'd need more info to help you out.

Mark

I just found out that I can borrow a trailor from a friend that he hauls a big bobcat on. I guess my only concern now is whether my half ton Ford will handle it.

Again, I,m not sure....if it's a smaller skid steer, it may....everything i pull I use either my 2001 f250, or my '89 dually diesel.....You will definitely be at or over your limit on the half ton if it's a bigger unit. It might be easier/better in the long run to give your friend some cash, and get him to use his truck and trailer to bring it home for you. Where are you located? maybe somebody here has something going the other direction in the near future...Also, maybe try posting it on the hauling schedule section on this site....400 miles is a long way to overwork a tow vehicle..you may get lucky and find someone willing to back haul for a reasonable price.

One of the things I look at with shipping, even with having enough of my own stuff to do it...even if it's a $1.00 a mile....for $400 how much do you really save when you consider gas, wear, time, etc...

Just a thought
