No fuel coming from pump.

I am trying to start my IH 504D after a rebuild. 2-3 gal.s of fuel is in the tank. The fuel has been bled through the injector pump. The fuel did not "flow" through the pump. I had to turn the engine over to get the fuel through it. I tried several times cranking it to get the fuel to the injectors. Each time I cranked until the battery went down. I disconnected an injector line from the pump and turned it over but no fuel came out. The pump is a Roosa Master. I know it takes awhile to bleed the fuel to the injectors but this seems way too long. I worked on it 2 hours. Any ideas.

Had the same problem with a R/M pump on a Ford a while ago. Loosen the screws on the timing cover on the pump or remove cover altogether. If no fuel runs out, then turn engine over till it does. Replace cover and try bleeding injectors again. Worked for me, after trying for two hours!

Crack all 4 injector lines when you try to bleed it, not just one.The other 3 are tring to build pressure.

does it have a kill solenoid or a cable?sometimes when left in the off position ,with the cable kill, the shutoff pin will stick in the off position.you can take the top off by removing the 3 screws and make sure the pin moves up and down

Davis D., Had the same problem with the RM pump on my 340D and I think they are the same pump. Had the pump professionally rebuilt and still ended up having a friend help as we lightly pressurized the fuel tank to "help the fuel" through the pump. We cracked the lines at the injectors starting with the center two, then the other two one at a time. Would get just a little fuel and some air out of the lines each time this was done. Finally, after about 2 hours of work, got the fuel to "spurt out of the lines with them completely out of the injector fittings. As this was done on each line I tightened up that line and went to the next one.

One help might be to put a charger on your battery while doing all the cranking or even another vehicle with jumper cables. Either was, becareful not to smoke your starter. Turn it over no more than 5-7 seconds with each try and let the starter cool off some between turns.

We finally got it bled. The Roosa's are stubborn to bleed without a primer aparatus like the 560's had. They do not like any air in the system.
