Over-running clutch pin size problem

Hey I just bought an over-running clutch for my '41 H PTO. The 1 1/8 X 6 spline fits except that the pin size is different. This is the pin that holds the inner half of the clutch to the shaft. The output shaft on the tractor has a smaller size hole than the pin supplied with the clutch. It looks to be 3/16" on the tractor and 1/4" on the PTO over-running clutch. I am reluctant to drill out the hole in the tractors output shaft, since the shaft size is already smaller. I am concerned that drilling out the tractor output shaft may weaken the shaft enough to cause the tail end of the shaft to crack. Am I worrying about nothing, or should I just put in the correct size pin (for the tractor), and just let the over running clutch have a little slop in the axial direction on the tractors output shaft?

The splines are the driving members. The pin just holds the clutch on the tractor spline shaft so
it doesn't slip off so I'd just put a pin that fits the tractor spline shaft in your case.

Thanks Lee, That's what I will try.
