With all the recent interest in cultivators for H's and M's, I thought I'd try posting a pic of my SMD with the 4 row cultivator. The rear section isn't mounted. If this doesn't work the pic is in the tractor gallery. Ed

Thanks for the pic!! I have only seen one of these in old IH sales literature and stuff. I'd LOVE to buy one for my SM, but I can never run across one. I have one that is a two row edition that I might utilitize, but it wouldn't be the easiest thing on fuel when you total fuel consumption per acre, hahaha. Thanks for the picture.

That looks about like the same cultivator we had on our 400. Ours used a separate hyd cyl to lift each side and fast hitch raised the rear section. The right cyl was the one off the fast hitch draft control, which was pinned. The left was from the mid remote. How do the front and rear sections raise on the M?

I'm not sure how the rears lift, I never put them on.I only mounted the fronts to move them out of the shed to make room for the H that was in another shed getting ready to fall down. The fronts lift with a cylinder on each side. I just kind of pieced it together with all the parts that were hanging on the shed wall and it worked.

Ed, Looks like you have the Model #448 there. I've spent many hours with one of them on an old 1940 M without power steering. My Dad spent all kinds of time making sure the adjustments were perfect. It sure did a great job. Obviously once it was mounted it stayed mounted until we were finished with cultivating season. I think the #448 was the heaviest cultivator IH ever made. The one we used had steel depth wheels. I'd like to get one of these again. Lance
