I am confused on what this add-on does. Do you get half a gear between every gear?

Not very familier with them in Mississippi Delta, want to buy one but not sure of what it does.

Any help would be appreciated, will check back tonight.

Thanks,

CP

The MW 9 speed causes the lower shaft to run faster. This will make the belly hydraulic pump and the PTO which run off the lower shaft also run faster in overdrive position along with 1-4 and reverse. 5th gear is a direct coupling and not run through gears.

Like Steve says the M&W approximately doubles the tractor's ground speed in gears 1 thru 4. (It has no effect on 5th gear).

Note that when the M&W is engaged it also speeds up the PTO by a like amount. Need to think VERY carefully before engaging the M&W while operating PTO equipment designed for 540 RPM!

But, as my dad said, you could sure cut a lot of hay with 9 speed and a sycle bar mower, just had to replace sycle bars about 3 times a day, you had to really keep them sharp to keep from breaking pitman arms, when you run 'em that fast.

It gives you a second set of speed ranges above fourth. First overdrive is faster than fourth, and fourth overdrive is a little slower than road gear. They made it possible to pull things like a rotary hoe with an M.
