Since I now have the old junk cab and every piece of sheet metal off this minibrute, and every ounce of fluid out and cleaned the transmission housing and flushed twice, would like to start the reassembly process. Got the fenders ready to put on but my trusty ITT manual doesn't show if there was some filler strips that need to go on to "square" off the original platform. I think this was an original open station tractor and later added the house on it but may have had to take off some original plates to get it on. And rather than wonder too long about it, I'll just ask the experts here. Somebody knows something. Migraine

I wouldn't call them "fillers" as much as upper mounting brackets. I went and looked at my black stripe. There is an upper mounting bracket/plate that the two upper horizontal fender bolts slide into. This plate has two vertical bolts to the platform. It is about two inches wide and 14 inches long.ANd yes it does fill up the space between the platform and the fender though.

Hi Gordo,

Yep, that sounds like the gizmos. Should fill up this gap in the rear of the platform?

Looks like I get to go to the salvage yard again. They can see me coming a mile away and get the path to the I.H. pile cleared out. Got to see if there are any seat cushion brackets there as well. Plus a few more items that I'll just have to take home when I see them. I must have enough extra parts around here now to build up a couple relics from the grave!

Yep,

We're havin' more trouble takin' the cabs off than they originally did puttin' the silly things on.

So it goes with old iron, I guess.

Originally the 66 series fenders were connected to the platform because smaller u-bolts were used along with some rubber grommets and bushings that made the fenders pretty unstable without being connected to the platform.

TR,

Yes, but wasn't there a "filler panel" that went in that "cut out" portion at the rear of the platform? Or does the "boxed bracket" fit in that space?

Seems to me that there was a 2 or 3" filler panel that goes in there and the boxed bracket bolts to it?

We need a picture of the rear of an original platform. Anyone?

Thanks,

Allan

Yes, there are supposed to be filler panels in there to bolt the fender to the platform.
