I changed the oil in my 45 A and after just 3 days after I changed the oil I see signs of water in the system. The coolant level is right up there so I dont think its the head gasket or "O" rings. should I change the manifold gaskests, would this be the next step to elimate the water problem? Thanks for the help! Andrew

did it get rained on in those 3 days? Do you have a loose threads where exhaust pipe fits to exhaust manifold. My h used to get h2o in the ingine from that till i figured where it was coming from and corrected.

Hi Andy, You should remove the oil pan and look for leakage around those seals (doughnuts) on your
sleeves. They get like an old shoe that's been left out in the weather. If leakage occurs when tractor is sitting you should be able to locate
the leak with the pan removed. Hal

what are your signs of water in the oil? have you been running the tractor in the past 3 days? what did your oil look when you changed it? if it is a internal water problem the first step is to pressure test the engine usig a pressure tester on the radiator. i would drain the oil again then pressure test it with the drain plug out of the oil pan.if you do get water coming out the drain then its time to remove the pan and see where the water is coming from. may not be a water leak as is atated in the other posts.but it is something you should keep an eye on.hope this isnt confusing.i would drain it only if i saw more evidence of water. also if you do pressure test you may find other leaks to repair, but i would try to keep the pressure on it for an hour or so.if you have no external leaks and the pressure drops you could be losing it at the pressure tester connection or a internal leak.hope this helps.

The manifold gasket has no contact with coolant. Sounds like water may be from an outside source. Has it been really cold where you are condensation will show up quite fast sometimes? Was it sitting outside, if so is the valve cover breather in good shape with no rust pinholes, was the exhaust covered? Is the oil pan pushed up like mine was and not allowing it to drain completely. Just doesn't sound like an internal problem. My 2 cents.

Manifold gaskets shouldn't affect it. Suggest you run it for a long time, let it set overnight, and slowly remove the drain plug to see if water comes out first -- then you will know. If you have clean coolant, it will also show in the radiator.
