The wife and I drove down to the farm this afternoon just to get outta the house and away from these darned computers.

Kind of a pretty day out there today.

BTW...I was reading about the manure pile fire at the feed lot west of Lincoln that they have been trying to put out. Sounds like you could hang your ham on the clothesline and get it smoked for free.

No, we only pump from 179 feet so the motor is only a 50 hp outfit. If you'll recall, two or three years ago, I was picking your brain about the 4-stage bowls? This is the pump that was in question at that time.

This land used to all be flood irrigated, but now it pushes thru a center pivot which is setting to the right, angled off and out of this picture.

600 yards due south of this pump is a second 30 hp 8" pump, which catches the second south farm via gated pipe and not shown at all in the picture.

Did you get my email about posting of the pictures? I'm really waitin' to see that 966 in her working clothes!

I bet if you shot a rifle the bullet would just skid to the ground. Man, flat, you must never wear your out your truck brakes. Here is Mass, you can't see more than a mile, and that is if you're lucky and on the interstate. A big field here is 20 acres. Differeent farming but I always tell others, it all started here when the boat hit the Plymouth rock. Course that was before IH so maybe it didn't, whatever !

Yeah, I know. I keep tellin' people that I've never seen a bad T/A on an IH tractor. Me thinks this is the reason. :>)

On a real cold snappy January night, I can see the street lights changing at Alliance, which is 46 miles to the south. The area is called "Mirage Flats" (for good reason). :>)

Don't take this personally, but this country is full of some very high-end cattle. The locals, understandably, just do not take well to hunters. :>)

The farmland lies on an old ocean floor seabed and the topsoil runs at least 8' deep. The grass is about 2 miles to the north of the home place and is a bit rougher.

Roosevelt and his CCC boys came in here during the depression, bought up all the land, leveled it all to grade, divided it up into 90 acre farms and sold it back to the WWII vets.

Took about a year before the farmers figured out that 90 acres just wasn't gonna cut it. That was when the bigger dogs started eatin' the little dogs. :>)
