I"m going to an auction Saturday to watch an IH 2-MH corn picker. I found where they was made from 1957 to 1964. I was wondering what all Farmalls they would fit. I did"t know if since they was made during the later years of the fast hitch if it would only mount on a fast hitch tractor or not. Does anyone have any idea as to what this picker is worth? The sale bill says it was only used once and has always been shedded. If I buy it, I won"t use it that much. I mainly just want a corn picker just to have one. I thought I might drive a tractor up there and put it on to bring it home, since it isn"t too awfully far from home. Thanks.

The mounting was changed for the 706 806 and was much faster to mount. Don't remember what all was, but I think the gear box and elevator stayed together.

Like the other guys said it is going to be a big job to mount. Plan to take a trailer to haul it. If it is as nice as you say it sure should be saved from the iron man. Make sure a collector buys it.I'd think someone would be willing to give $500 for a nice one.

You have to have the correct mountings for which ever tractor you want to mount. You cannot take one off an M and just put it on a 560 without the correct mountings been there done that. After getting the 560D we traded the brackets for the M on the mountings for 560.

The 2-MH will fit on a 460/560. The fast hitch does not need to be removed. The mounting will be quite a chore. Two men at least two days. Good luck.

My dad and I used to mount our 2MH on a Super M in about 4 to 5 hours. Once you put the subframe on the tractor you just slide the wheels out and drive in and picked it up. Then bolt in the transmission and hook up the chains and lift the elevator. The biggest job is the rear transmission and the elevator. They are very heavy and hard to work with. As far as value around here they sell for scrap price, most of the time under $100.

Try and contact the owner to determine what the picker was mounted on last. Then borrow or buy a tractor to match the brackets. (Did I say buy a tractor to go with an implement?)In Iowa pickers generally sell for scrap value. My nickel Dick Davis

The only pickers that I have seen sell around here have mainly been pull type, New Ideas. The amish around here love them. The auction is an estate farm auction. Hopefully the auctioneer will say what the owner had it on. The only two tractors that is on the sale bill is a JD 4430 and 4320, so I don"t know what he had it on.
