This is a two-part question.

A What are the recommended flavor of spark plugs I should be using in my A model International?

B Has anyone ever heard of an International A with a Fairbanks Morse Mag installed? Mine has one. The question would be, that I suppose this was installed down the road as a replacement for the original?

Thanks,

MACE

If I remember right, the Champion D-16 was the plug that recommended at the time the letter series was made. The Champion name has been under fire for being a poor quality plug off and on the past 15 years. Personally, I still run the Champion D-16. I have run equivalent plugs in AC, Autolite, and Mortorcraft. I’m not sure which one is the best as they all seem to last about the same for me.

I also run ethanol blended fuel which seems to help with the carbon problems, and I still work the tractors that I have when I run them. If you don’t work the tractor then the hotter plugs suggested by others is the way to go.

A--same as the others, little used tractors do better with a hot plug, D21 or equivalent, I believe there is a D23. D15's are fine in a working tractor. B--The OEM mags are still available as are parts to repair them. I think the guy found the FM mag would fit and work so he used it.

Used Champion D21 in my gas tractors and Sta-Bill in the on farm gas barrel. Tractors didnt have to work hard altho got warmed up to operating temps most of the time.
