I was talkin to a guy who has a 560D, He said it's cranked up a bit, i said how much? he said O about 95. I said wow, didn't think they could go that high. Didn't they come with like 50 or 55 horse? If it could have went up 40h then my M could have gone to 70hp. He also said it realy moves down the over pass with a load of corn on and the ta back! I said to him dont be doin that, thats dangerous, I asked him what he did, he said I held on a bit tighter!.

I just finished up a 1959 560 Diesel and put it on the dyno last Saturday. The head was completely redone with new valves' seats and guides and some cleaning up inside of the rough corners and some polishing. The pump is not turned up at all and it gave me 67 hp. at a good steady pull with some smoke. I did not do anything else to the engine or botom end since it looked good. New haed gasket and injectors and will see what we have at the track. I have a 460 with the same motor turbocharged running at 3200 rpm turning out 125 hp. Bigger plungers in the pump and plenty of air and these little motors will come alive. Migraine

Mitch: In the 1960s I had a new 560 diesel turned up to 90 hp and worked it that way on farm for 17 years, 11,000 hours. IH technician did this for me, and we actually were able to get 105 hp out of that engine, but we didn't leave it there.

The idea that you need a turbo is just not so.

Now if you are talking gas engines in a M, SM or 560, I doubt if you want to try those kinds of power increases, other than for tractor pulling. If your planning to plow, disk, etc. all day, could be an expensive adventure.

It takes a turbo to make that kind of hp.I have two 560s with turbos.85-90hp.They will make more but wouldn't last long in the field they melt glow plugs and burn valves

It's also hard on the TA but if he's an older man there ain't no sense you trying to tell him how to drive. He'll find out soon enough all by himself. Ya, it shouldn't be too hard to get 95 horsies out of a 560, maybe add a turbo and tweek the pump a little. My 656 with turbo I figure is around 75-80 and that's the same engine as the 560 Diesel. You can get 200 + horses out of an M if you have enough money. But it woun't be practical for plowing, only a 20 second run down the track.

I've got a 560G that is turning 85hp at stock RPMs. The head on mine is off of a c301 (like a 806) and has been shaved, ported and polished. I am also running a set of alluminum roller rockers with "offset" stands to give longer duration and clearance. There are no modifications to the lower end whatsoever. I would say that if I were to turn the RPM's up to 3000, it would push 90 pretty easily.

As for a diesel, I'd say if you were to turn up the go juice on it to the max, you'd get to 80 pretty easy. To get much over that, I'd have to say you'd need a turbo. There's only so much air a naturally aspirated diesel can suck to burn that much fuel. A 560D just doesn't move that much air without the aid of a turbo...
