I don"t like this upper 40"s/low 50"s stuff. I want SNOW in the winter. Pretty to look at. Also gives me tractor seat time plowing. Sounding like my elders here but, "the winters just aren"t the way they used to be". That was one of the topics of discussion last Sunday evening w/my dad (75) and aunt (80) at a good supper at her place. The below zero stuff can take some of the fun out of winter. At least with snow, you can plow/shovel it and get it out of your way. This 40* stuff is worthless. Goin" for a cup of coffee.

Well I wish you had what we are getting I moved here to southern New Mexico to get away from the cold and snow and last night we had 2 in. in a about a hour and a half and it was in the 30s and wind blowing all day. I did get to set in the set of my M for about 4 hours and was not fond of the weather. So I will give you this and you give me back my warm weather.
Dave

You know, I've developed a theory in the past few years. Dunno if it's right or wrong, see what you guys think. My theory is that weather in the big picture goes in cycles. Big cycles. Like not every ten, twenty years, but more like every hundred or two hundred years. Or more.....

Heck, white man has only been in my part of the world for just a bit over 100 years, so who's to say what's normal and what's not. This part of the country I'm in used to be(millions of years ago) the bottom of a huge inland sea(according to the books) and what's to say things someday won't freeze up then melt and do that again. Just in recorded history of this area, we went from the early settler days(1880'a), where a guy could track a horse all the way from the Niobrara River to the Platte(about 150 miles) in the dry sand. All pictures from that time and early turn of the century were showing basically sand dunes with little vegetation on them, to the "wet years" of the 1950's(when all the cattlement got rich) and then slowly back to now, when it seems like things are getting dryer every year. Hate to say it but I kinda predict things are going back to the "dry stage" like it was earlier. Makes a guy want to think twice about investing too much in an ag operation in these parts about now....

Any thoughts?

Just remember, when you were three and a half, to four feet tall, it didn't take much snow to be up to your knees. and them three foot drifts were a bugger to get through.

It's going to be in the 40s through Monday here in Maine. This winter is one of the sadest I've ever seen. The temps have been all over the place and no snow!

Heck, even in the "County" (Aroostook County for all you non-Mainers) snow is hard to come by.

I just don't know, weird weather. I'll take what I can get but this winter is getting near spent.

Well, it seems that when one is ready for the weather, the weather doesn't come.

And, when one isn't ready for the weather, it comes like there's no tomorrow, and there you work like a one legged man in a butt kicking contest to get it done so you can plow!!!!

I must admit that here in MI, the sun is nice!!!

Yeh, too bad we can’t do winters like some utility companies do bills and “average” them out. That way it would never be too cold, snow but not too much or too little. I have to agree that most winters here in southeast SD are not like the ones that I remember growing up as a kid. I’ve been waiting to take my new snow “toy” out too this winter, maybe next week I can as there is snow in the forecast.

Yep, it's strange allright. Last fall I put together 6 new snowblowers for one of the local dealers. He had even more, in fact those boxes were stacked so high I couldn't see the top. I was looking forward to putting the rest of them together once the snow started to fly. I really doubt that he ever sold even one.
