I allready asked this question,on what year this 484 International Harvester(diesle) tractor was,,i think someone told me it was between a 1978-84?
Well upon looking at the tractor,,it looks a bit older....i think,,but i dont know anything about tractors. It has only one power steering cylinder(on the right),it has high and low,(flip up leaver,by stick shift),and it also has the "low " fenders. It also has a small round "thing",on the dash,to show that the glow plugs are "glowing"I was looking here at the photo section,,and all the 79's -80's seem to have the "high"fenders.Im confused,,was this tractor"put together" from older parts?.....Thanks.....GW.

With the tranny levers you described, sounds like a 424. Maybe even earlier model like B-414, maybe 434. All these dated back into the 60's & had low rounded fenders, gear levers between knees. Also PTO lever by left heel, Diff lock by right heel...

484 should have the three-cylinder German diesel, which does not have glow plugs. A 444 has a British engine that does have glow plugs.

Yes,,this tractor,,has a 4 cylinder,diesle engine,,4 glow plugs,,straight front axle,and the low fenders.Hi-Low range"lever"by stick shift.Power steering cylinder,on the left,h.s.
Headlights in the front grille..battery under dash,in front of shifter lever,Loader, and bucket.Cant tell you the serial number for this tractor,is a bit far away,,for we were going to buy it.The man told us that it was a 484 International..i looked at it,,and it is how i explained.I think it is a 444.So that would make it late 60?.thanks .GW

GW: Cant tell you when beginning and end of production was for the British 444, but it does appear in the 1975 Canadian IH buyers guide. I think my neighbor told me his was a 68, but not certain on that. Just looked at 68 buyers guide, and it shows 434, basically the same tractor.

If you look at YT serial numbers it will tell you 67 to 71 was production, but that is US production, and not necessarily same as British years of production.

Hi,this tractor has the straight front axil"im pretty sure",,and is a four cylinder, with glow plugs. It has the "low" fenders.I live in Canada. So,,is this "484 sign on the hood",,the wrong number?and ,could this be a different hood, for this tractor.?The tractor is really in need of paint.Ill try to get the serial numbers,,they are right at the pedals,at rhe lower body....thanks ..GW

GW: The others all raised good questions. We need model and serial numbers from the serial tag. Now I'm going to throw another curve at you. Where do you live? CNKS post alerted me on this one, with his suggestion of 444.

The 444 and quite possibly others are different in Canada from the US. The US tractors were assembled at Loiusville, whereas in Canada we got the British assembled version. The quickest way to pick these out is the US assembled tractors had swept back front axle, and British used a straight front axle. There are other differences but that is the most obvious.

It will still take serial tag for positive ID.

You need to find a serial tag. The 444 had the 2 range transmission you describe, not sure what other models.

The steering cylinder and the shift placement sound more like a 364 or a 384. Does the data plate give you any clues?

Hi, If it is 59 to 62 maybe it is a B275 or B414D?
The B414D was released in Canada in the fall of 1961. The B414D had the air cleaner breather cap thru the hood. The hood would tip foward to service the engine. The next of this series was the 434 and the hood had an opening that ran the length of it that would open to one side to access fuel tank, rad and oil filler. Another charateristic of the B414D,434,444,384 series was the fuel tank was between the dash and the battery box. The 454,484,495 series the fuel tank was a sadle tank behind the seat and mounted on the fenders.

My 2 cents
