Gentlemen, A while back I found a link on this message board for pictures or a diagram of direct plumbing for a Char Lynn power steering hand motor (in the steering shaft) off of the regular tractor hydraulics. I believe a priority valve was used but can"t be for sure. Does anyone know the link to this site again or have the pictures to show how it is done? I am looking to do this on a Super MTA or a Super M. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time and I welcome your questions as well.

Aaron,

Here's how I plumbed mine. The priority valve is plumbed into in the pressure line right behind the output of the pump and the "exhaust" port, at the vavle, is plumbed to the remainder of the system.

With my loader, it takes right at 3 1/2 gallons to run the steering.

The photos of my set-up are on my other tempermental computer, I could try to e-mail them if you would like. I made my own braket to hold everything and took the original single valve off. Here's a copy from a reply of mine to a discussion a while back that I pulled out of the archives.

I did this modification to my SMTA and it was worth every bit of the cost and time to install it. I set mine up with dual two-way hydraulics, one for the two point and one for the remote for the swather and of coarse the power steering. Took the pressure line from the pump to a priority valve where it splits, one side goes to the power steering and the return from that goes to the return line to the pump. The other side of the priotity valve goes to the center inlet on the valve and out the other end of the center of the valve to the pressure inlet on the hydraulic tank. The lever on the side of the tank is left in the forward position to get it to work correctly.

I really like the way my SMTA drives and the hydraulic response I have now.
