can you tell me if the internal hyd pump on my m will come out the bottom or does the tractor need to be split in two. thanks, tim

The IT service manual gives simple instructions for making a set of "T" handles that can really help with this heavy pump (as long as you have two people to use them). It is a heavy pump, and it is harder to get back in then out. I have used an automotive transmission jack when working by myself that makes the job acceptable.

As others posted, it's pretty straigh-forward and comes out the bottom. Remove lever, three side ports, fill cap, coupler, and four bolts.

It will be heavier than you think it will be, and if it's got oil leaking out of it, it's gonna be slick and hard to hang onto. The threaded rod technique works well, and you only need two of them in opposite corners. A bar through the bottom of the casting is a good way to handle it, but ONLY if it has a key welded to the side to prevent the assembly from rotating, AND has a cross piece on one end so the bar doesn't rotate.

If you are young and strong, you can simply use brute strength, If you go that route, DO NOT have your hands, feet, or HEAD under it when it comes down! My guess is that if you take it out by yourself with brute strength, you'll decide to get help when you put it back.

Comes out the bottom. You must unscrew all the elbows (three of them) that are the connections for hydraulic implements. These go through holes in the sides of the torque tube (clutch housing). Also must disconnect the operating lever. It is attched to the operating control shaft with a screw. Now the coupling that drives the pump must be rotated so the cross is vertical and it will slide out of the slot that it runs in. Then you can drop the pump out. CAUTION!! It's very heavy and you need help, or some tools. You can replace each of the 3/8 bolts that hold it in one at a time with threaded rod with nuts on the rod and then screw the nuts down the rods to lower the pump. Somewhat time consuming but safe if you make sure not to unscrew the rods out of the clutch housing. Also special tools available (Tee Handles) that fit in the horizontal hole at bottom of the unit. If you have those, you can put cribbing or a jack under them to lower the unit.

It is made to and will come right out the bottom. No need to split the tractor. One word of caution. It is really heavy, you will need some help to handle taking it out.

It drops down after removal of the coupler at the back.

Now, for another question on this. How do we get the coupler for the control lever back together? We cannot get the little round rod back into the slotted lever! Help!!!!
