Just drained and flushed the transmission and rear end on a Super H refilled with 90wt. Two days later I see a small drip coming from the seal behind the pump drive. Anyone ever change one without draining the rear compartment. The tractor set in the shop for 3 weeks dry.

If you drain 1 - 2 gallons, the pump drive seal will be above the lube oil level in the tranny.

Tip: If you are going through the trouble to replace the pump drive seal, figure on replacing the input shaft seal directly above it at the same time. Chances are this seal is worn out too. And even though it's above the normal oil level in the transmission, it WILL leak when the tractor is running.

First make sure the pump drive is tight .I went to fix a seal on a M just like that and when I droped the plate (no belly pump yet) it fell out on the ground it sure was the easyist job ever and thats why they sold the tractor to me...I then put a pump on it and now use it for the 3 point so iy always is tight..

If the bottom shaft seal is below the oil level (I think it is, but it's too dark to go look right now) you can drain the oil enough to change the seal by just removing the drain plug under the transmission and not the big one at the rear end. That way you only have to catch a couple of gallons instead of all six. Wm

i believe the seal is below the oil check plug on the right side of the housing, not sure though. I suppose you could raise or drive the front end on blocks, or perhaps a car ramp, as long as it doesn't fall.
