I am an avid reader of FARMALL history books.
The more I read about these tractors the more questions I have!

Firstly did the tractors exported have a different Serial Numbering to the units sold in the USA.?

Secondly with the SUPER W4,W6 & W9 tractors were the specialist models such as the Industrial Models (i4,i6 etc.) and the Orchard Models (o4,os6 etc.) carried forward from the original W Series models into the later Super W series models?

I can't find information clear information on either question.

The US made export tractors had identical model identification. Tractors that were made overseas had different model identifications. THe tradenames saw considerable variation as to country shipped to or built in.

There were no orchard Supers- the orchard tractors were discontinued in 1952. Industrial tractors are less clear- they were enver identified as Supers, but some received some Super features.

On the -9 Series, there certainly was a Super WD-9, and a Super WDR9. The gas ricefield tractordidn't receive a bigger engine, so IH played with the name a bit and came up with WR-9S. There was no straight SW-9 or W-9S.

To the best of my knowledge, there was no such tractor as a "Super W9." Heck, the 600 and 650 were practically the same tractor as the W9; they didn't even bother to change the hood or grille!

Actually yes, they did change the hood for the 600 and 650's. Got rid of the "bump" where the guages go since those tractors had a different, larger "insturment panel".
