Help...!

I have made a makeshift puller and pulled one of the cylinders out of a C113 engine. It was tough, but I was able to get it out. The reason I pulled it was due to a deep score mark down the length of the cylinder wall. I have decided to replace the other 3 cylinders as well. What is the most effective way to get these cylinders out? I am having a difficult time with the next one. It doesn"t want to budge. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

MACE

I have always used a post and hammer to remove the wet sleeves in the C113 & 123 engines. If the sleeves are really tight, I have used a steel plate & bar welded together. Just remember that you only need to move the sleeves about 3" up, and then they will be loose.

Hi Mace. Someone else asked about getting old sleeves out the other day. I directed them to the one for sale on ebay which is a very heavy duty and solid tool for removing 3" wet sleeves. The pulling plate is 5/8" thick so I don't think you would ever break or bend it. It is also designed for in-frame use if need be. Take a look at it and you may be able to figure out how to build your own but the materials look pretty expensive. Good luck

After posting this question, I went back to the tractor and made some improvements to my makeshift puller. I have pulled all but one sleeve out. Thank you for the response to my questions?

Hi Mace,

Take your welder and run a couple of vertical beads up the inside of the sleeves. That will "shrink" 'em.
