My Great Grandfather's first tractor was a 34 Farmall Regular on steal. The next spring, he had rubber put on by a private individual not from the dealership. When my Grandfather told me this story, he said that rubber was not available from the dealer at that time in NW Iowa.

It must have been offered in 1936 when my grandfather purchased his F20 with factory rubber which was said to be the first of it's kind sold in Clinton County Iowa. Don't know if it was available before that.

The instruction manual I have for my F-20 is an early one and does not mention pneumatic tires at all -- just the regular steel wheels. Brian

Ok I was told that test were run in 28 with a Regular on Firestone rubber. It was not an option from IH until 32 but the wheels (Not cut down steel) were available from many dealers as an extra non IH item. I remember reading something similar to this but am hard pressed to find the info right now. I had a 32 F30 with factor rubber and factory high speed rear end. The wheels were 38" on her too. Allis Chalmers was the first to offer rubber tires as "standard" equiptment in 34 on their WC. Many people seem to believe pneumatics weren't available until then. Several companies offered "low pressure pneumatic Tyres" well before that date as an option, including IHC.

my 32 regular parts book shows round spokes for rubber as an option. did they actually have them? would have to assume so. but you know what they say about assuming. pg
