I have found a 430 IH baler that has been stored for about 25 years in a barn. Seems to be in good shape, no rust, water damage and does not appear to have been abused during its working life. What could be a fair price ?

I want to thank everyone for their replies. Those price ranges were what I was thinking or had in mind. I guess I'll keep looking. We don't even want to talk about the price this gentleman had in mind. I bought a Stage II Louisville SM from him last summer and finished restoring it last fall. He was the orginal owner of the tractor and all of this other IH equipment including the baler.
Thanks again

I spent every teenage summer behind my Uncles IH 430. It was relatively trouble free except every hundred or so bails, the knotter(s) always messed up. My Uncle could live with that I guess, madfe for a convenient "break time".

I gave 950 for my decent all twine 430 with the wide pickup.

Last time I saw an IH baler two guys wanted it bad so it sold for a few hundred dollars. If it is in nice shape and you plan to show it the same respect it had in the hands of the prior owner, price is relative. It would be a nice old baler to play around with in your spare time. Personally, I like to play around with tractors.
Playing around with balers while my hay lies in the sun and the clouds are building on the horizon is for people with cast iron stomachs.

I purchased a 440 IH last summer at an auction sale, $215. I had to replace the bearings on the bale plunger and do some shimming on the knife edge. Other than that it worked fine. Mine has the manual tension on the bale chamber and I am looking for the hydraulic unit. If you know where there is one for sale please let me know.
Thanks Bud

Hi, my brother bought an IH 435 baler last summer for $300 CND. The all twine knotters are better than the standard knotter.

Good luck
