"H" The end of the throttle shaft (between the governor and the carb) which fits into the groove in the carb is worn and sloppy. You can see how the end of the little rectangular piece measures quite a bit less across than the rest of that piece. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? ...or do I have to replace the shaft?
Thanks

I had the same problem on my '47 H. I built it up with brazing rod then carefully ground it back to fit the slot on the carb shaft. Since the slot on the new throttle shafts is now a plastic piece, it will take many years to wear the brass down. Corrosion is less likely too, which was the original cause in my case.

Yes, you just replace the shaft. All the parts places have them.

Haymeadow52, I'm thinking that for precise throttle response a new throttle link would be the best bet, I'm thinking they wouldn't be that expensive to get, Case-I-H still likely handles them. I've never fixed one as you have described. Good luck..Mike in Exeter Ontario
