Some thing always seems to come up. Last winter it was the 400 trans/TA thing. This winter its hay racks. Needed more racks. When your hay fiels id 30 mi away cant be running racks and baling on the same day. Now I can bale 500 bales one day and run racks the next.
Oh just incase my exploits are of interest. I added a section to my web site for hay rack building done my way. Just look in the pane on the left side of my web page. May have to scro;; down to find it. I have ammased a bunch of stuff in there. Look for the hay rack build link.

Hi Kelly, You sure took some nice pictures of all your equipment. The closeup pictures of the 300 internal engine parts were very good. The area in around the cam looks very clean and had plenty of oil in that area. Hal

Kelly;
Went to your webpage, and enjoyed the section on hayrack construction. I shouldn't be critical of anyone, because I never get any job completed...but, I have to ask one question.
Do you feel comfortable with attaching the cross members to the stringers with furniture brackets? I would be a little worried about the deck lifting off the stringers with a partial load at one end. Any rack I've put together, I always bolt through the cross member and stringers at each end (4 total). A good source for long bolts and big washers is the local power company...usually the linemen will have a pail of old ones they will give you. Once again...just an observation and question. You did a great job.

I had been thinking on that. I dont think a load would ever make it come loose. But zippin down the road at 40 mph might shake some stuff loose.
The angle Iron Idea may be easier to do with it together. Cant see how it would hurt to have her pinched down real good at the corners.

Rauville I'm with you on this one. I'd want the front and rear stringer bolted. Wouldn't have to be long bolted top to bottom maybe use angle iron and two bolts at each corner, would have to be stronger than it being screwed together. A little time now may save a lot of time later picking up a spilled load. Also I question not leaving a space between boards if this is going to be a hay wagon only. But just my 2 cents. Later. Tom

Shure would have liked some space between the boards. When I asked for 8 foot wide thats what I got. I think it will shrink me some space though as the wood cures. Its fresh sawn stuff.

Kelly your lumber being fresh sawn you will probably end up with space between the boards. Will make your boards last longer with the water being able to get off of them. Like your website. Tom
