Finally getting started on my '47 H and looked at the number on the head it is 8776DA. Is that a gas head or a kerosene head? The manifold does not look like a gas manifold to me. Thanks. Tom
PS which number head should I be looking for to get a gas head? Tom

8776 is the low compression kerosene or distillate head. Your manifold is probably the original "hot" manifold. No reason to change out either one if they are in good condition unless you are building a pulling tractor or something.

RustyFarmall, What is cylinder-head casting number 6695DE supposed to be used for. My 1944 Farmall H has this head with a hot manifold, shutters and a 1-gallon starting fuel-tank.
Thanks in advance. Mark

Thanks Rusty I had thought about doing some pulling with it. Tom

If you are going to be serious about pulling then you need to look for an 8043? head because it will give higher compression=more horsepower. You can also install higher compression pistons, use the head you have and see an improvement, or you can have the head you have milled down to get better compression. The list goes on and on and the further you go the faster the dollars fly out the window. Do a good job of rebuilding what you have and you will still have a bunch of fun at the pulls, you might be surprised at how well you do.

Thanks Rusty. I just pull for the fun of it and the H needs rebuilding anyway so I thought I would just upgrade it a little. Don't want to sink a boatload of $$$ in it. Tom
