Hello, I am interested in buying a Woods 60" belly mower. I found one in excellent shape for $1000. Would this be a fair price to pay?

I bought a used 72" last year for $600. Had to modify the brackets, buy a belt for $70 and a pulley for $75.

Last summer I priced a 72" woods. By the time I bought all the brackets and shipping it was going to be around $2300. Ouch. Ended up buying an H with a mower on it for $2700 that I'm going to pick up on Friday in Iowa.

I would say that price is right in the ball park.

I paid $1000 for a new one about 25 years ago. Don't know the cost of a new one now, but I bet it's over $2000. Based on that, $1000 is a fair price for a used one in good condition. As Hugh says, be sure you have all the mounting parts. Also get a manual so you will get your setup correct.

Dan: Sounds right to me, I paid $650. and had to add $375. for mounting and new blades. Just make sure you have the right mounting kit for your tractor as that is where I spend $300. of the $375. I knew this in advance so thought $650. was a decent price.
