I just purchased my first Farmall and am not clear on which one it is. Previous owner sais it is a "C" but had some options of the Super"C". Could anyone tell me what cubic inch this motor is and which overhaul kit I need. Motor # is M217964G. ANd all I could make out of the serial # on the tractor was 58995. Any help would be appreciated

The engine serial number is stamped on a machined surface under the number 1 spark plug. The engine serial prefix for both the C (C113) and Super C (C123)is FCM. The chassis serial you gave (if correct) makes it a 1950 C. The Super C came out in 1951 and has a 6 digit serial number. You need to be sure you get the right kit. The later C's actually had the C123 block with thicker sleeves to give 113 cubic inches. I don't remember the serial break for that.

I was unable to obtain an overhaul kit for the 113 cu engine. The kit I got was for the 123 cu. Just slightly larger pistons. The sleeves were bored out to except the larger pistons. I had no problem installing the kit.

A couple of easy give-aways: The C Farmall fuel tank will be almost resting on the hydraulic resevoir and pump. The Super C fuel tank will be elevated with two 2 inch tall brackets off of the resevoir. The C will have sheet metal, flat brake covers. The Super C will have cast covers with bolt heads obvious on their faces. The C has a c-113 cubic inch engine and the Super C a C-123 cubic inch engine. The serial # on the engine should give you the year manufactured which in turn will deliniate the tractors make.Hope this helps.

Look above your #1 plug. On a machined flat surface you will find the serial # of the engine, this may or may not match the chassis serial #.

I think your looking at a cast #, that number does not exist for either series! The # should start with FC and will be just above the #1 plug, and below the valve cover.

The chassis serial begins with FC, the engine serial begins with FCM.
