Eye Candy

This old 1066 is for sale here locally. I'm pretty pretty darned sure it is a "paint hides all" kind of a thing.

They are for sure the wrong fenders; seems like we have and abundance of lights going on here in addition to the mounting issue.

Probably off of a 06, or 56 model? 66s just had the one light in the fender; other two were out front.

Also, notice the Jap alternator and the missing shield for the pulley?

Old tractors; ain't they fun? :>)

Thanks for the 1066 picture, that give me motivation to get my 1066 looking good like that. I will print it out and put it in the shop as a goal. Are the front hubs white or red origanally, I have seen both ? I also need to get the handles that go around the T/A and the shifter, and the sheet metal above the battery, any idea where I can get that, dealer still have it ?

Is it the battery covers that you need? These can be had from Mike at www.steelwheelranch.com for at about $20 a pop, I think.

The grab handles are sold at www.batescorp.com and go for $35 a throw. All 766 thru 1466 handles should be the same.

I know this guy; he stands back and throws a bucket of paint at 'em, runs 'em to the tire shop for a set of new tires and then sells the old gizmos for a premium price.

The white wheels are wrong; I think IH stopped that little practice back with the 56 series, didn’t they? Also note the grab handles got the "red" treatment too; they should be black.

Are these the panels you need? I just "walked thru the fire" finding these. However, I have a sneaking' suspicion that I'm doubled up with the shop that is redoing my tractor, as they were buying parts off of a part-out about 100 miles form here and may already have these things.

I'll know on Tuesday and if these do end up being extras, you are sure welcome to 'em. By the way, they should be painted red too, not the white like in the picture.

Those are one that go just above the battery on either side, right. They look like that. You getting rid of them, what might you be looking for on them ? Thanks

I'll try and get into town the first part of the week and see if they are needed, if not you can have 'em for what they cost me (which wasn't much).

IH tractors didn't come equipped with front brackets, weights or the retainer hardware. Those were sold as add on "accessories". :>)

I'm about 125 miles East of Allan, and around these parts I don't remember ever seeing a large IH tractor with weight brackets. The 886 we bought new didn't have one, and the 966 I remember our neighbors having didn't either. Here in the Nebraska Sandhills it's grass country, not much tillage goes on, and even less went on back when these IH's were new. These tractors primarily were used to pull haysleds to feed stacks of hay to cattle- rolling loads, and the extra ballast wasn't neccessary. Plus, a great number of them were also fitted with either a loader or a dozer blade.
