Cub Coil part # - tired of searching

Oh, couple things. Steve was correct. It is an Echlin and an IC-7. This is for an external mount coil.

Noooow, then ifn you want to get the real deal.... as MagMan who is a regular contibutor to this here forum. He rebuilds the J-4 Magneto and has access to the real McCoy.

I am assuming that your Cub comes equipped with a Magneto. If it doesn't, and is equipped with the Battery Ignition, then the coil is an external coil that mounts above the distributor. The IC-7 should be compatible.

If you go to the Cub Manual Server at the link below, then to the Parts Manuals and then to any of the TC-37 series manuals, you will find the correct part numbers for the coil, condenser and the points.

However, as some of the lads have said, just about any old coil will work. I bought mine at NAPA. Just ask the counterman for a 6v coil for a Cub. I think the Model is a C-12, but it has been a while and I no longer have the box on my desk.

But if you have the IH coil with the terminals on opposite ends, your replacement will be larger and not fit real well unless you buy the new aftermarket to match the original IH.
