Was watchen the news tonight, some station from Cleveland i think. Their big hype was the gas prices, with how high they were, and the few places that had it for under $2 a gallon. They said beware when traveling this weekend cause of the high price. If you think about it it's not a big deal. We(CAN) pay about $0.80 a L, give or take a few cents, You(USA)pay about $0.44 a L give or take a few cents. Thats $3.60 a gallon we are paying, and $2.00 your payin. Now, I'm not sure what the big hype is about? And i Ain't saying your all complainers either. It was the city news, so maybe it's just city people. Not trying to offend city people on this forum.

..what rally stinks about this oil, is that Canadians are the second biggest exporter of oil to the U.S.. Why is gas so expensive, with all of the reserves and production here? Won't have nothing to with the amount of taxes those Liberal wh0res are scamming off us...Our medical system =joke. example our local hospital delivers 9 babies a day. they have 5 birthing rooms makes sense to me. ..with that, 1/2 hr after birth, moms are out in the ward rooms... unless you have private benefits, then its a semi or private.
Don't know how I got onto babies, regardless we pay too much in taxes for the services that we get. Time for Ontario to say good bye to the confederation and quit supporting the unproductive provinces, and the leaches in the rest of the country. Hound

Hound:

I would suggest that you take a cold shower and then join the real world. I was born and raised in Ontario, but and here is the difference, I learned my history. Those poorer provinces you call leaches pal, well they are what MADE Ontario what Ontario is today, so be very careful what you say.

At Confederation New Brunswick and Nova Scotia were the two richest provinces in the country. WE here in the Maritimes had the richest trading program in the world. We traded with the New England States.... then came along Sir John A., and all of a sudden the trade had to be East TO West so as to strengthen the new country (read here ONTARIARIO). Sooo, before you get too high on your horse, you might want to re-read your history..... .

As for our Medicare system, it is second only to Sweden in the WORLD pal, so stop belly achin. I just had a sextuple by-pass which in the states probably would have cost me 1/4 million in hospital and other medical expenses... oh, and I just survived a bout of spontaneous bacterial peritonitits... in case you are't too sure about that - that sort of stuff can kill you in less than a couple of hours -- ask me -- I KNOW.

So before you start belly-aching about what you have to pay, start thinking about what it would cost you if YOU really had to pay for each procedure you WILL eventually need....

I served my country for 12 years, all I ever got from you civilians was screwed. Quit yer bitchin and grow up!

Sorry guys... but stuff like this really pee's me off.....

Here in southeast Mexico (Campeche state) we are paying about $2.16US a gallon (6.25 pesos per liter). Over in Quintana Roo state, itīs 5.80 pesos a liter or about $2.00US a gallon. Five years ago, gas here was way more than the USA, but not any longer it seems.

SEEMS KIND OF STRANGE THAT GAS PRICES ONLY RAISED ABOUT FIFTY CENTS PER GAL. FROM BACK IN THE SIXTYS TO THE NINTIES, AND THEN AS SOON AS WE GET A PRESIDENT THAT HAS FAMILY AND FRIENDS IN THE OIL BUSINESS, IT JUMPS ALMOST 100% IN ABOUT FIVE YEARS. MAKES ME SAY HMMMMM MMMM!

the only thing i have to say and i do know that you guys got expenses too but with fuel prices high and fertilizer high and new problems to spray for and more problems to spray for such as rust and with prices around here for grain i cant make the numbers add up and its really starting to worry me. some people have it worse but im worried about my line. i love farming know i wont ever get rich from it i am not trying to get rich from it. even though my time is worth more then nothing i love farming and not even considering my time if i make expenses=income im happy. i really dont know this year whether to put fertilizer on or not specifically pot ash. pay big bucks now to get higher yeilds so yields higher but costs are or poor crops so nothing to sell but lower input i dont knwo what to do.

Bob M's figures are correct -- $2.51/gal at today's closing exchange rate. It's not city people vs country people, it's the TV stations and newspapers looking for a story.

Let"s do some math:

We know -

1) 1 US gallon = 3.78 liters
2) US/Canadian $ exchange rate is currently .83045 (it was this morning anyway when my daughter crossed the border...)

Then 3.78 litre/gal x $.80 Cdn /liter = $3.03 Cdn/ gallon.

And $3.03 Cdn x .83045 Cdn/US exchange = $2.52 US per gallon equivalent.

Therefore you"re paying about 25 cents a gallon more than we are here in Western NY right now.

You guys north of the border are indeed paying more, but not THAT much more...

They are talking around $2.50 a gallon come summer, that would make diesel around $2.75.Right now its gas $2.00,diesel $2.25.
Some countries like Germany have had $5.00 a gallon prices for many years..so US pricing compares favorably. But of course the US is the land of the bigger,is better approach and we have always liked big cars/big trucks/big tractors...and now we're all going to pay for it.
I vote with my wallet, and the only gas hoggers I have are snow-plow vehicles....and they rarely see road useage. The 40mpg cars get daily driving duties. The 300U drinks the gas at a so-so rate, but I'm sure a later 6 cylinder would get far worse.Plus I'm no diesel fan...
I'd be the only guy to rip out a IHs/Hough's diesel in favor of a 440 Chrysler or something like that! LOL

I guess you are aware that in europe, a much larger portion of the cost is tax than it is in the US.

Mitch: I haven't done your math, but don't forget US gallon is only 80% of the imperial gallon we used before you were born. Maybe you allowed for that, I'm being called away.

Here in Ireland Gas (petrol) sells at about 97 cent / litre, and thats Euro cents so in US dollers you'r talking about 1.15 pet litre!
Road diesel is a little cheaper at about 93 cent a litre, and agricultural diesel (Tax rebated and dyed green so the customs can check if your using it in your car or truck) sells about half of that. Haas is correct, about 70% of the cost of a litre go'es in Tax to the Government. Mainland European countries are even dearer, Denmark Sweden France etc. Politicians there will tell you that you got to pay for excellent health services somehow..... Cheers, Nigel.

Hi, listened to stock analyst on radio last evening and he says oil prices will hit $70US per barrel by next fall. To much demand and not enough supply. He says, no new reserves of oil have come online for several years now. He says same for natural gas.

Only time will tell if he is correct.
