Putting the engine back together

I did not put in new sleeves, but new rings on the pistons. Do I need to hone the sleeves? There are no ridges and they look pretty clean.

Do I use any sealant on the gaskets when I am putting the engine back together? Seems like I rememer my dad using something more for keeping the gasket in place than for sealing.

And finally, as I put the rod and main bearings in and attach the rods back to the crankshaft, do I need to lube the bearings, pistons, cam shaft etc?

You should use a new paint brush to coat all of the engine parts prior to assembly. That includes bearings, pistons and sleeves. Those seals at the bottom of the sleeves can cause leakage into the crankcase. I would fill that block with water high enough to cover the seals
on the sleeves and check for leaks before assembling the engine. The oil pump should be primed with fresh engine oil too. Hal
