I-6 Rear rims

I'm trying to get the rims off the hubs on my I-6 so I can get to the brakes to fix them and the pinion seals. Got all the bolts out (8 of them per wheel) and the clamps off, but the rim is stuck on the hub. This rim is not like on the farmalls that have the clamps on both sides. It has clamps only on the outside and there is a flange on the hub that the clamps push the rim against. I've tried a hydraulic jack between the tractor frame and the rim, no luck. I'm afraid to put too much pressure, as the axle bearing must take the load and I don't want to damage them. Next, tried a heavy piece of iron on the inside or rim and long bolts through the clamp holes to try to pull it off. Still no luck. Can't heat it, as tire is on rim. I guess the rust has the rim locked to the hub. I'm using PB blaster to try to soak it loose. Any ideas how to get this thing off. I've though of reinstalling the clamps loosely and driving around to see it that would break it loose. Other than that I'm pretty much out of options. Any ideas??

Aside from working it off with the PB and such, you cna do this, although you may not want to.My I4 rims were the same way,I ended up pulling the whole thing, tire rim hub and all, just one bolt holds it on.I layed the thing down and the hub popped out.

I suspect that getting the hub off the axle will be about as big a chore. The side I am working on did not even have the bolt and washer on the end of the axle when I got it. Nothing holding the hub on and no sign whatever of any movement. Also, that hub is one solid disk of cast iron. The hub alone without the tire and rim must weigh at least 300 lbs. It's 3 inches thick. I have the lift to handle it, but I think I'll give it some time. The brakes on the tractor are working, but there is no adjustment left and the brake lock is to the last notch.

More time with PB Blaster.

And driving around is a good idea.

Many years ago I tried to loosen a JD A wheel from the axle by taking the bolts out and putting them in the jack holes. Drew them up tight and the hub wouldn't budge. So I fixed the tire on the rim and left the jack bolts in place and used the tractor. I only used the old A about ten years after that, mainly brush hogging and pulling a grader. The bolts are still in the jack holes and the hub is as solid as ever after thirty years.
